A busy view is an invitation to investigate. Read the underlying posts and compare the activity with the asset’s price and wider news before drawing a conclusion.
A practical research workflow
- Choose a project that interests you and confirm the asset identity. Similar names and tickers can refer to different assets.
- Compare the available 24-hour and seven-day project mention windows. Check whether attention is concentrated around one event or appears across the longer period.
- Explore the authors and available source posts. Look for repeated claims, first-hand evidence, replies and disagreement.
- Open the price-and-mentions view. Available post markers and a mention-density lane show when the conversation appeared within the displayed price window.
- Check the original post where a source link is available, then bring relevant news and market positioning into your research.
Attention and sentiment answer different questions
Attention describes activity around a subject: mentions, participating authors or engagement. Sentiment concerns the tone or viewpoint expressed. A rise in mentions does not, by itself, mean that people are optimistic. A controversy, announcement or coordinated campaign can all attract attention.
Engagement also differs from agreement. An account’s audience size does not prove the accuracy of its claims, and a connection in a graph does not establish a financial relationship or endorsement. Read the source material before assigning meaning to the pattern.
Compare like with like
Keep the project, time window and metric consistent. Seven days of mentions cannot be compared directly with one day as though both were daily rates. The posts available in a detail view are a selection, not a complete archive of everything said about an asset.
A post appearing before a price move establishes an order in the displayed data. It does not prove that the post caused the move or that the same pattern will repeat. Price, social activity and news can also respond to a shared event.
