Open Interest
Total notional value of outstanding derivatives positions on a given market.
Definition
Open interest (OI) is the total notional value of outstanding derivatives contracts that have not been closed or settled. Rising OI with rising price signals new long entries (trend confirmation); rising OI with falling price signals new short entries. Falling OI typically marks de-risking. Spectre AI aggregates OI across derivatives venues alongside funding rates and liquidation data for a complete derivatives picture.
